New England Patriots rumors: Lance Kendricks can make impact
By Sam Minton
The New England Patriots signed Lance Kendricks on Wednesday and the tight end has a chance to make a major impact this season.
There is no doubt that the New England Patriots weakest position on the depth chart is tight end. The team might be searching for solutions for the entire season.
It seems that the Patriots are looking to patch the hole that Rob Gronkowski left when he decided to retire. They have found some solid replacements but none of these guys really jump off the page.

The New England Patriots latest Gronk replacement is interesting. On Wednesday the team signed tight end Lance Kendricks to a 1-year deal.
Now Kendricks has spent most of his career with the Rams. In his best season, he had 42 catches for 519 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Kendricks does have some experience with some of New England’s coaching staff. Most notably while he was with the Rams in 2011, Kendricks worked alongside Josh McDaniels.
I think that Kendrick’s biggest impact will come in the running game. He is a giant on the field and should be able to open up some holes for Sony Michel. As we saw last season once Michel gets a little open field he can cause a lot of damage.
The other part of the offense that Kendricks can make an impact is in the red zone. He might be the red zone target that Tom Brady has been looking for.
Expectations for the tight end are mighty low this season. When you lose the greatest tight end in NFL history it is hard to expect any different.
If the tight ends have any sort of success it would be amazing. Matt Lacosse or Kendricks will be your starting tight end when the regular season comes around.
Even though we have seen a lot of tight ends go through New England already this season, Kendricks may have found a permanent home and has a chance to be rewarded with a Super Bowl ring.
