New England Patriots: Dontrelle Inman falling behind in WR battle

Dontrelle Inman has struggled so far at New England Patriots training camp and is severely falling behind in the race to make the team.

If you want to make a football team you have to show your worth. So far Dontrelle Inman has failed to do that with the New England Patriots.

Inman was signed in the offseason to help boost what looked to be a struggling group of wide receivers, but through the draft and other acquisitions the New England Patriots have a solid corps of wideouts.

The New England Patriots definitely needed someone like Inman. He’s a solid deep threat with exceptional speed. In 2016, Inman had a great season for the Chargers grabbing 58 catches for 810 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Throughout the offseason, Inman has gotten chances to prove that he belongs in New England, but he has failed to make an impact. He hasn’t even recorded a single catch.

With players like Maurice Harris and N’Keal Harry emerging as stars in camp, it looks like Inman could be out of a roster spot.

Right now you have Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, Phillip Dorsett, and Demaryius Thomas as guarantees to make the roster. Matthew Slater is a special teamer but on the depth chart he is a wide receiver.

That only leaves 1 or two spots at wide receiver left. Maurice Harris is running away with the lead and right now it looks like Braxton Berrios would beat Inman out.

If Inman wants to make the final roster he is going to have to step up his play a lot. He will need to build chemistry with Tom Brady and show that he can be useful in the regular season.

Inman has bounced around the NFL and if he doesn’t figure things out soon, he could be out of a job once again.
