Tom Brady wasn’t as vocal as Antonio Brown, but the New England Patriots quarterback is still adjusting to his new helmet.

The NFL’s new helmet rule has caused quite the controversy. Some players aren’t exactly happy that after all these years they have to change their most important piece of equipment. But New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is taking it in stride.

The new helmet rule reached epic proportions when Antonio Brown threatened to retire over the new rule. Thankfully for the Raiders he didn’t follow through with that.

But Antonio Brown isn’t the only player that has had to switch his helmet. Tom Brady has had to switch his as well.

Now I don’t think the new helmet will have that big of an effect on Brady, but the quarterback has noticed some differences.

"“You get used to one thing, one feel,” Brady told NBC Sports Boston’s Tom Curran during a recent episode of the “Quick Slants” podcast. “This is a pound heavier, so it’s 25 percent heavier on your head. That takes a lot of getting used to. I wish it was lighter. I tried to make it lighter. They couldn’t make it lighter.”"

Because Brady has played so long he has seen the game completely change. This version of football is more about skill and finesse than power and physicality.

Gone are the days of Ty Law beating up opposing wide receivers. If he was to do that today he would be called for pass interference all the time.

It truly is stunning how long Brady has been able to play. Throughout his career he has stayed in impeccable shape and is still one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL today.

It will be interesting to see how Brady’s career progresses as he gets closer to retirement. We are used to seeing players suffer rather drastic dropoffs before retiring. But I think Brady will buck the trend. He could even walk away with another Super Bowl ring on his hand.

So Tom Brady will look slightly different on the field this season, but New England Patriots fans should still expect the same great play from the quarterback.
