Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron has been an amazing player for many years but it looks like the 2019-20 season will be when he finally starts to decline.

For a long time, Patrice Bergeron has been one of the most consistent players in the NHL. Every year he seems to get better and better. The Boston Bruins shouldn’t rely on that this season.

The last two seasons have seen Bergeron improve his point output, but also saw him get injured. At this point, you can slot Bergeron to miss at least a week or two of playing time.

Still, he is able to put up great numbers with less than 70 games played. Last season Bergeron played in 65 games and was still able to score 32 goals and 47 assists. Imagine what he would have done if he was able to play for the entire season (or for at least 80 games).

Bergeron’s status was in question during the preseason due to a nagging groin injury. This seems more like a chronic ailment at this point. This injury will probably follow Bergeron for the rest of his career if not his life.

Thankfully for Bruins fans, he will be playing on October 3rd and won’t miss the start of the season, but don’t think that won’t have an effect on his play.

I think this season we will see Bergeron take a step back. A reasonable expectation would be for him to have 20-25 goals with around 30-35 assists. That still is a pretty decent season but not exactly what we expect from the center.

Of course, there will still be the positives. I think Bergeron will continue to be a menace in the faceoff circle and will be one of the best two-way forwards in the league.

Next. Don Sweeney makes another great deal. dark

But Boston Bruins shouldn’t expect the same old Patrice Bergeron. Especially with this nagging groin injury.
