It seemed like Tom Brady’s future was as clear as day, but now it seems like New England Patriots fans might have a reason to be worried.

When it comes to Tom Brady’s future, New England Patriots fans have always been confident. It seemed like he would always end his career with the team and he would play until he was 45 years old.

Now things aren’t as clear. We all know that Brady’s contract expires at the end of the season effectively making him a free agent. For all we know this could be Tom Brady’s last season as a Patriot.

Now this would be a dark day. I can’t imagine Brady playing for anyone else. It would be like Paul Pierce going to the LA Lakers as a free agent.

This season Brady hasn’t been as happy as he has been in the past. He has been vocal about the team’s lack of depth at wide receiver. Maybe that explains why the Patriots went out and acquired Mohamed Sanu.

Brady’s latest comments really have me worried because it seems like he has no idea what will happen after this season.

"“I think that’s the great part for me: I don’t know,” he said on WEEI. “I think that’s been a unique situation that I’ve been in because I think when you commit to a team for a certain amount of years you kind of feel like your responsibility is to always fulfill your contract. For me, I’m just, it’s been good because I’m taking it day by day and I enjoy what I have. I don’t know what the future holds.“One day I’ll wake up and I’ll feel like ‘OK, that’ll be enough,’ and when that day comes, that day comes. I don’t know if it will be after this year, I don’t know if it will be five years from now. I don’t have to determine those things now, either. That’s kind of the part where I’m at.”"

That’s really the scary thing. One day Brady could wake up and just decide he doesn’t want to play. It seemed like it was guaranteed that he would play until 45, now I’m skeptical.

I think if Brady and the Patriots are able to win another Super Bowl he will decide to retire. All signs are pointing to this being the case.

He will without a doubt be the best quarterback in the history of the game. If he wins 7 Super Bowl’s it would be impossible to deny his greatness.

So appreciate Tom Brady while we have him, for all we know this could be the last season we see him in a New England Patriots jersey.
