After being released by the New England Patriots, wide receiver Josh Gordon is ready to make his debut with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
For New England Patriots fans, the Monday Night Football matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers will be an interesting one indeed.
Not only is it a matchup between two of the top teams in the NFC, both teams have former Patriots players who will draw some intrigue.
We all know about Jimmy Garoppolo and the undefeated 49ers. But Josh Gordon is also set to make his debut in a Seahawks uniform after being surprisingly released by the Patriots just a few weeks ago.

With Tom Brady and the offense struggling to find offensive consistency, the sudden turn of events with Gordon was a surprise to Patriots fans as well as Gordon himself, who seemed to have been making the most of his multiple chances in the NFL.
"“We all know it’s a business,” Gordon told reporters, via Yahoo Sports! “Your time can be short-lived anywhere. You never know what could happen day to day in the NFL. But that was the decision they made and I’m glad to be here now.”"
After being placed on injured reserve by the New England Patriots due to a knee injury, the 28-year-old wide receiver appeared shocked by the decision. Once he proved he was healthy, he was released with an opportunity to get signed by another team.
Pete Carrol and the Seattle Seahawks came calling and now Josh Gordon has an opportunity to play with a quarterback he has always thought about playing with in Russell Wilson.
"“I admire his game. I think maybe he respected mine mutually,” Gordon continued. “I love the way he plays, it’s as simple as that. He’s a great ballplayer, he can make it happen from pretty much anywhere.”"
That is where the size of a receiver like Gordon will help the Seahawks. With his athleticism and ability to come down with jump balls, the ability of Wilson to prolong plays could make these two a dangerous duo.
Of course, New England Patriots fans thought the same about Tom Brady with Gordon. In 17 games with the Patriots, Gordon caught 60 passes for Brady for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns.
While it could’ve been so much more, the Seahawks do appear to be the next best team and situation for Josh Gordon.
So, we will see how it works out up there in Seattle. If he has any semblance of a good game in primetime against the San Francisco 49ers, that would just add more drama to the New England Patriots season and leave Bill Belichick with another player mystery on his hands.
