The New England Patriots made it official and now Josh Gordon is off of the team. The move is still stunning to a lot of fans.

Well, Thursday was the day. The New England Patriots released Josh Gordon and I for one am still stunned.

Gordon is such a talented wide receiver. He has just been plagued with many off the field issues.

In New England, it seemed like Gordon finally was getting it together. He seemed like he was on the straight and narrow.

On the field, Gordon was amazing as well. In 17 games he had 60 catches for over 1,000 yards and 4 touchdowns.

It seemed like Gordon was loved by his teammates. Phillip Dorsett was one of his closest friends and Tom Brady loved throwing him the ball.

Now the Patriots are back to being a weak team at wide receiver. There only hope is that N’Keal Harry will live up to expectations and be a guy that Brady relies on.

So I don’t know why the New England Patriots would get rid of Gordon. The Patriots definitely could have used him still.

Now the team will also need to rely more on the running game. With how Sony Michel is playing that will be an issue.

The Michel that we saw in the playoffs is long gone. He is able to get in the endzone but he is struggling to get consistent yards. At this point, I would be more impressed if Michel ran for 100 yards than if he scored 3 touchdowns.

So the New England Patriots might be making a mistake by letting Josh Gordon go. Hopefully, they won’t pay for this mistake when it matters most. Because the absence of Josh Gordon could be just the thing that opposing teams can take advantage of in an important game.
