Boston Celtics fans hearts are broken because of Kobe Bryant once again
By Sam Minton
Kobe and Gianna Bryant passed away on Sunday and Boston Celtics fans are among the many who are left stunned and heartbroken.
This shouldn’t be something that you are reading about. Boston Celtics fans should be upset over the loss to the Pelicans, but Kobe Bryant has owned the world’s attention on Sunday.
When I saw the news I was stunned. I couldn’t believe it. Sitting in an Irish pub near Boston I had to question if I was seeing things.

TMZ was reporting that Kobe Bryant had died in a helicopter crash. Seeing that this is the same site that has said Lil Wayne has died too many times to count I had my doubts.
But then more and more people confirmed what we didn’t want to be true. Kobe Bryant had passed away.
What came after was even worse. Outlets began ‘reporting’ that his daughters were on the flight. Some even said that former Laker Rick Fox was in the helicopter. Everyone was rushing to be the first to get the details. It was messed up.
Once again we hoped that the news wasn’t true and once again we were wrong. Along with Kobe, the Bryant family and the world mourned the loss of Gianna Bryant.
I don’t have my fair share of Kobe moments that I remember. It took Kevin Garnett coming to Boston for me to get invested in the Celtics.
But I can never forget watching his final game. He put up 60 points in a classic Kobe performance. I was actually rooting for him to keep scoring.
Once he retired Bryant began a new phase of life. He was working in business and also helping coach Gianna in basketball. It was awesome to see him teach his daughter about the game. Just a week ago a moment of him talking to his daughter courtside went viral.
Among the numerous stories to come out during the day was how fans would go up to Bryant and mention how he needs to have a son to carry on his legacy and Gianna would say that she got this.
Kobe Bryant was one of the best players to ever play the game. In his career, he racked up over 33,000 points, won 5 NBA championships, was an 18 time All-Star and was the MVP of the 2007-08 season. Bryant will be a first ballot hall of famer but will be unable to give his own speech.
What made this tragedy even worse is that there were more victims. The helicopter was headed to one of Gianna’s games and a teammate and her parent were on board as well. In total 9 people lost their lives on Sunday.
Somehow the Boston Celtics and the rest of the NBA pressed on and games were played. Sean Grande who does radio for the Celtics perfectly described how C’s fans felt on Sunday.
I still can’t believe it. Kobe Bryant is gone.
Rest in peace to Kobe and Gianna Bryant, and the other victims of this horrible tragedy.
