So far in Spring Training Andrew Benintendi has shown that he is ready to be the leadoff man for the Boston Red Sox in 2020.

The time has come for the Boston Red Sox to begin their road to a World Series (no matter how unlikely that may seem).

Spring Training is upon us and we get to see the Red Sox play some games. It seems like summer is just around the corner.

Of course the talk all season will be how do the Red Sox fill the massive hole that was left by Mookie Betts. It definitely won’t be an easy task.

The first step for the Red Sox will be finding their leadoff hitter. So far it looks like Andrew Benintendi will be there guy.

Benintendi has had his struggles batting leadoff. Last year he was 5-42 in the top spot in the batting order, but this year looks like it will be different.

Benintendi is starting spring training with a bang. On Monday he hit a leadoff homer to kick off the game. The Red Sox will definitely need that type of production in 2020.

Boston won’t need Benintendi to be driving balls over the fence every single game, but they will need him to have some power. Mookie Betts wasn’t the biggest guy but he sure knew how to hit the ball.

But mainly Red Sox fans will want to see Benintendi getting on base and starting the game on the right foot. Even if Benintendi just gets deep in counts it will be a success.

Hopefully, this will be a season where we see Benintendi and the Red Sox surprise some people. It’s fair to say expectations are rather low for the team this season but Boston is a town where the only thing that is accepted is winning.

Next. Boston Red Sox should have signed Brock Holt. dark

If Benintendi keeps performing like he has in Spring Training he will be just fine as the leadoff man for the Boston Red Sox.
