New England Patriots rumors: Why team won’t get Aaron Rodgers
By Sam Minton
With the Green Bay Packers drafting Jordan Love, Aaron Rodgers could be on his way out. The New England Patriots won’t be one of the teams going after him.
The NFL Draft always throws in some surprises. We definitely got some in the first round. One thing that wasn’t a surprise is the fact that the New England Patriots traded out of the 1st round.
But a rather surprising move was the Green Bay Packers selecting a QB in the 1st round. Jordan Love needs to start practicing his Lambeau leap.

This seems like a situation eerily similar to when Aaron Rodgers took over the starting job from Brett Favre. Could Rodgers be on his way out?
Rodgers is a temperamental QB to say the least. He can not be happy that Green Bay has drafted a QB.
So we could see Rodgers get dealt to a new team. Why not replace No.12 with another No.12? It would make things easier for Patriots fans.
Well, there are many reasons that Rodgers won’t be coming to New England.
No matter how much the Patriots like him they can’t afford to make a deal. New England is up against the salary cap but the move would also cost Green Bay close to $24 million in cap space.
Also acquiring Rodgers would be a complete 180 on New England’s future plans. They would be committing themselves to an old quarterback who is declining. At that point why not re-sign Tom Brady.
The Patriots need to build for the future. They need to see what Jarrett Stidham can do. It might take a while for them to find their next franchise quarterback, but that is just life in the NFL.
One proven example of this is the Seattle Seahawks. They kept taking chances on draft picks and veteran free agents until they finally got Russell Wilson. Sometimes you have to keep throwing darts at the dartboard until you get a bullseye.
So the New England Patriots will not be getting Aaron Rodgers. It’s time to focus on the future.
