New England Patriots 2020 NFL Draft: Big winner is Jarrett Stidham

The New England Patriots didn’t draft a quarterback showing the level of trust they have in Jarrett Stidham.

The New England Patriots draft was filled with intrigue. The team brought in a lot of interesting players.

But one of the major takeaways might involve someone who wasn’t taken. The Patriots didn’t select a quarterback in the draft.

Now to be fair New England did sign undrafted quarterbacks Brian Lewerke and J’Mar Smith, but these guys will be competing for the 3rd spot on the depth chart. It is highly unlikely they are ready to start in the NFL.

There were plenty of capable rookies who could have competed for the starting jobs. Jalen Hurts was stolen out from under New England and other players like Jordan Love, Justin Herbert, and Jacob Eason went before the Patriots had a chance.

Even then the Patriots still could have signed Anthony Gordon who went undrafted. He is a quarterback who could definitely compete for the job. I was really surprised to see him go undrafted.

This clearly shows one thing to me. The Patriots must trust Jarrett Stidham. If they didn’t I don’t know why they would sign undrafted QB’s that are not capable of being starters in the NFL.

Analyst were saying that Stidham would have been a top 3 quarterback in this year’s draft. New England must have had a similar vision of the QB.

At this point, I’m confident that Stidham will be the starting quarterback in 2020. If the Patriots had drafted someone such as Hurts I don’t know if that would have been the case.

I’m interested to see what Stidham can do. With all the hype he has been receiving I think he will surprise some people.

In the 2019 preseason, Stidham showed off the running ability that he has. After 20 years of the immobile Tom Brady, it will be interesting to watch a quarterback who can break free at any moment

Still, we have heard about Stidham’s arm. Teammates such as Stephon Gilmore have raved about his abilities.

So after the conclusion of the 2020 NFL Draft, Jarrett Stidham can breathe a sigh of relief. He knows that the Patriots trust him.
