Jayson Tatum is apart of a group of NBA players looking at how basketball will return and his involvement in the group proves when we will likely see Boston Celtics basketball return.

Basketball fans are left wondering when the 2019-20 season will resume (if it does at all). One Boston Celtics player will be in the know whenever a decision is made.

The NBA and the NBAPA have created a group to discuss how the NBA will return and Jayson Tatum is apart of the group. This is telling for a lot of reasons.

More from Chowder and Champions

First off this shows how Tatum is viewed around the league. Of course in Boston, we view Tatum as a star and possibly one of the brightest in the entire league. He looks like he is going to be the face of the franchise for years to come.

But around the league, Tatum must be viewed in high esteem. I would think that Jaylen Brown would be apart of this group not necessarily Tatum but the league must view him as a leader both on and off the court.

Tatum being on the group also makes me think that we won’t be seeing basketball anytime soon. Tatum hadn’t shot a basketball in months prior to getting a basketball hoop for his home. Like a lot of players, Tatum will require a few weeks to get ready for games.

This makes it rather unlikely that we see regular season basketball again. The NBA might be willing to push back the season, but eventually, the risks outweigh the rewards. At one point finishing the season just isn’t worth it.

It’s still hard to imagine that a champion is not named. The NBA seems willing to do anything to finish the season. Even if that means possibly pushing the next season to December.

That would be pretty awesome. Imagine the first games being played on Christmas Day. This could be a perfect opportunity for the NBA to get something good out of this. Starting the season in December seems like prime real estate for basketball.

So it’s not surprising but with Jayson Tatum apart of the group to bring basketball back, I’m not expecting to see games anytime soon. I guess we are stuck with Bundesliga soccer and the KBO.
