Boston Bruins: Please don’t screw this up NHL
By Sam Minton
The NHL has a golden opportunity to show off their stars by not adding fan noise. Boston Bruins fans could get to hear the personality of their favorite players on the ice.
Sports leagues around the world are adapting to the new normal of not having fans. Some leagues are adding artificial fan noise while others are letting you hear the players. The NHL has a golden opportunity to show off their stars, many on the Boston Bruins.
The NHL has always taken a back seat to leagues like the NFL and NBA. These leagues have stars that are bigger than the sports themselves.

Of course in Canada hockey leads the way but globally the sport could make some improvements to the reputation of the league. It seems as though the league has a golden opportunity to gain some new fans.
MLB might not play at all. The owners and players can’t agree to a deal and the 2020 season is in jeopardy. These could bring hockey to a whole new group of fans.
Also for Bruins fans, this would allow us to hear just how guys like Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak act on the ice.
Even the players themselves think that there should be no noise added in.
Imagine getting to hear Marchand. Now that would be a treat. Honestly, he could be the only player mic’d up and I would be happy. He would be roasting players left and right.
Right now the NHL has a chance at being the first sport back in the United States besides soccer (shoutout to the NWSL and MLS). There is no doubt that all eyes would be on the league.
So the NHL has to do the simple thing. They don’t need to add any crowd noise. Let us hear the players. Besides the jokes, we would also get to see all the communication it takes to be an effective team.
