New England Patriots: Jordan Reed another option at tight end
By Sam Minton
Jordan Reed is another option that the New England Patriots can sign to help out new quarterback Cam Newton.
Now that the New England Patriots have more than seven million dollars in cap space to spend, they can boost the offensive firepower on the roster.
One of the positions that was lacking in 2019 was tight end. It’s hard to replace Rob Gronkowski and New England realized how lucky they were to have him.

This season things look better with Dalton Keene and Devin Asiasi being drafted the position has been injected with new life. Still, New England can do some more and someone they can look at is Jordan Reed.
Reed is just another low-risk high reward player that could be succesfull in New England. Even though he has dealt with some concussion issues, Reed has had quite the career.
Since being drafted by Washington’s NFL team (who will have a new name soon), Reed has had some great seasons. His best was in 2015 when he had 87 catches for 952 yards for 11 touchdowns.
That is almost a Gronk-like season. If the Patriots had a tight end playing like that they would be very successful. Reed is also well experienced with mobile quarterbacks. Coming to an offense with Newton seems like a great fit.
Due to his injury history, the Patriots will likely be able to sign Reed to a cheap deal now that he is a free agent. A team bringing him in would be taking a considerable risk.
Signing Reed seems to have New England written all over it. It seems to be a win-win situation. If they bring him in and he is succesfull, they finally have a tight end they can rely on. If Reed doesn’t win the job it shows just how great the recently drafted tight ends are.
So I wouldn’t be surprised to see Reed find his way to New England. It would honestly be more surprising if they decided not to bring him in.
