New England Patriots: Mohamed Sanu healthy for 2020 season
By Sam Minton
New England Patriots fans finally got some good news as Mohamed Sanu was taken off the PUP list and will be healthy headed into 2020.
These past few weeks the New England Patriots haven’t received a lot of good news.
Whether it be a bunch of players opting out or seeing Tom Brady in Buccaneers gear, things haven’t been that great for Patriots fans. Cam Newton is really the only positive event that is giving fans hope.

On Tuesday, the Patriots got some good news finally as Mohamed Sanu was taken off the Physically Unable to Perform list and appears to be healthy.
Now we have been hearing about Sanu’s ankle for a while. He injured it returning punts which was a questionable decision from the team.
Sanu spent the entire offseason rehabbing his ankle and it appeared to be going well. Devon Clements of PatriotsMaven spoke with Drew Lieberman who is a wide receivers coach that has been working with Sanu for a few years now. He detailed just how good Sanu is looking.
"“He definitely is motivated. I think he feels like he underperformed a bit (in 2019), but, he was also playing through, you know, a broken ankle for the vast majority of his time there,” Lieberman told PatriotMaven. “So, I think that he just feels like he wants a chance to prove himself at full strength and I think he has attacked this offseason probably better than he ever has. Just as far as his dedication. He is taking care of every single detail, just to make sure football is coming first in pretty much everything he does, besides the time he spends with his family.“So, I just think with his mentality, being a year more comfortable in the system, and obviously being healthy, like, I think he expects to have a big year and hopes to really contribute and do what he was brought in there to do. He definitely feels like he has more to give than what he was able to give last year on a bad wheel.”"
Prior to his injury, Sanu had a great start to his Patriots career. In his 2nd game in a Patriots uniform, Sanu had 10 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown.
What should New England Patriots expect from Sanu in 2020?
Sanu will be a major part of the Patriots offense. With Cam Newton being the likely starting QB, I would expect Newton and Sanu to connect a ton. They could be a dangerous duo when it comes to throwing the deep ball.
It will also be nice to have Sanu’s veteran presence AT 30 years old he will be a great role model for the young receivers on New England’s roster. N’Keal Harry is one guy who could learn a lot from him.
So it will be interesting to see what the 2020 NFL season will look like for the Patriots, but one thing we will likely see is some great play from Sanu now that he is healthy.
