New England Patriots: 3 key offensive newcomers who must excel
New England Patriots may a lot on Lamar Miller.
The second player, is offensive running back, Lamar Miller. Miller was a very recent signing for New England, but that doesn’t diminish the potential value he can bring to the Patriots’ offense this season.
He’s a very good back, a very productive back when healthy. New England’s running back room absent James White is one full of question marks.

Former New England Patriots executive Mike Lombardi now states that running back Sony Michel may miss a significant part of the season. That’s not good news for a thin group at best.
While White excels as a pass-catcher, the other 2 two running backs are injury-prone or untested. Rex Burkhead is often injured but can be effective when healthy. But you have to expect him to miss time during the season due to injury. Then there is completely untested second-year back, Damien Harris.
Harris had credential coming out of Nick Saban’s Alabama Red Tide squad, but he hardly played last season, at all, as a third-round draft pick. That’s troubling. That’s why Miller’s performance will be so crucial to the Patriots’ offense this season.
Miller is 29 years old and coming off an ACL injury.
But assuming that the New England Patriots medical staff did their due diligence, he’ll be ready to again contribute to an offense as he did for Miami and Houston. His most important contribution will be as a runner. But Miller is also a very capable pass-catcher. .
Yet, suffice it to say, a top contribution from Lamar Miller this season will go far toward helping New England once again challenge for the AFC East title.
