The Boston Red Sox haven’t done a lot to get fans excited this offseason, but with some moves being made and more recently the play of Jarren Duran, things are looking better for the Sox.

While it is currently freezing in Boston, Puerto Rico is much warmer. That’s where Duran and other MLB’ers are playing in order to stay and shape and improve before the 2021 season.

More from Chowder and Champions

Duran was a part of Criollos de Caguas in the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente Final Series.

But saying he was simply a part of the team doesn’t do him justice. He led the team to victory with how well he played.

Red Sox prospect Jarren Duran continues to impress

Duran was hitting everything down in Puerto Rico. He went 5-15 throughout the series while tallying two home runs as well as 6 RBIs. He was named MVP of the series.

The Red Sox definitley had their eyes on Duran. The club that Duran plays for is managed by Ramon Vázquez who also coaches for the Red Sox.

Duran is one of the best prospects in Boston’s organization. It seems like 2021 will be the season that he gets some serious playing time once he is called up.

Down in the minors, Duran has also impressed. His speed is a great asset with him racking up 70 steals.

But he still has a ton of raw talent that could use some molding. Duran spent the majority of his baseball career at second base. He’s still learning the finer details of playing in the outfield.

Also, coaches noticed last season that Duran got bigger and the power also came with it.  Everything seems to be pointing to Duran making his MLB debut in 2021.

This definitley will be the case if the Red Sox end up trading Andrew Benintendi. Duran seems to be leading the race to take over “Benny’s” spot.

Next. Marcell Ozuna would be a monster addition. dark

But Duran has only helped his cause with his performance down in Puerto Rico. Fans in Boston should be excited about what he might be able to do in the majors once the 2021 season arrives.
