The New England Patriots have been under fire these last few days with Danny Amendola going scorched earth on the organization, but one player is standing up for Bill Belichick, Brandin Cooks.

Amendola has shown that he very much disagrees with Belichick’s decision making as a General Manager. Also, it seems as though the wideout believes Tom Brady deserves more credit for New England’s success compared to the head coach.

There’s also the news of Matthew Stafford basically begging the Lions to not trade him to New England. it seems that Stafford and Amendola have the same feelings when it comes to how the organization operates.

The Patriots have always seemed to garner criticism from former players. They complain about not having fun even though we can all agree that winning is extremely enjoyable.

Brandin Cooks defends Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

But one former player is sticking up for the team. On Tuesday, Brandin Cooks voiced his support for Belichick.

"“Not at all,” Cooks said when asked if he found it difficult to play for the Patriots. “I have to say that’s one of my favorite places that I’ve ever played. Especially when you’re winning, how is it hard to play there? I’ve got a lot of respect for Coach Belichick and, at the time, Tom [Brady] and Josh McDaniels. I think if it’s too hard for you, that must mean you don’t like to work hard. Now, you grind — don’t get me wrong — but there’s fun in that as well.”"

Cooks just seems to get it. When you are winning, there aren’t a lot of reasons to be upset. Especially when the Patriots were a team that was constantly competing for a Super Bowl trophy.

The Patriots will definitley be happy to have a former player actually support them. It seemed like the team was in desperate need of some positive press.

It was starting to get to the point that fans were getting worried about how the team would be able to acquire talent. Now after Cooks’ statement, players shouldn’t be so gun shy to join the team.

This offseason will be an interesting one for the Patriots. The organization desperately needs to get younger, but will Belichick sacrifice winning for the long term success of the franchise? Will he want to coach up the Patriots QB of the future.

It seems as though New England is guaranteed to select Mac Jones out of Alabama. It would be more of a shock if the team didn’t draft him at this point.

If New England wants to get back to the top rather quickly they need to cultivate some young talent and that begins at quarterback. It might take some struggles, but the Patriots simply need to get younger.

Next. Ryan Fitzpatrick a waste of money. dark

So Patriots fans will be pleased to know that Cooks has our backs. Playing for New England is not the worst thing in the world. In reality for the last decade, it has been the place that players come to revitalize their careers.
