The Boston Bruins have been dominating 2021 so far, but that doesn’t mean that there haven’t been a few surprises.

Boston has been one of the best teams in the NHL. After Friday’s win, they boast a record of 8-1-2. With David Pastrnak back on the ice, the Bruins look unstoppable.

More from Chowder and Champions

Headed into the 2021 season, players like Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, and Charlie McAvoy were expected to put up big numbers. They are key players on the roster and have high expectations year in and year out.

But Boston has witnessed some under the radar players have a great start to the season. Here are the three players who have surprised fans so far this season.

Boston Bruins: 3 surprises so far this season – No.3: Kevan Miller

When Zdeno Chara left, a lot of fans were angry that Boston invested in Kevan Miller instead of Chara. So far that move seems to have paid off.

Yours truly was skeptical if Miller would be able to stay healthy and perform on the ice. It’s safe to say I was worrying for no reason.

Miller has looked like a beast since the beginning of the season. You could recognize in the first game of the season that he was his old self with the hits he was making. A fight with Miles Wood continued to show that he was back to normal.

So far this season Miller has an assist along with a personal rating of -2. He has been a solid addition to the bottom defensive pairing. The only thing that Bruins fans will worry about is Miller’s health, but so far there has been no reason to get nervous.

In 2021, Miller has done everything asked of him and Bruins fans will be hoping that he is able to stay on the ice for the entire season.
