Friday night was one of those Boston Bruins games where you were jumping out of your seat and your heart rate was through the roof. The fact that the Bruins beat the Capitals 5-1 is just the tip of the iceberg.

It was a complete game from Boston. They were scoring goals, playing physically, and just dominating Washington.

More from Chowder and Champions

But there is a lot to unpack here so let’s not waste any time. Here are the three things fans need to know after Friday’s win.

Boston Bruins: 3 observations from colossal 5-1 win over Washington Capitals – No.3: Tom Wilson is the dirtiest player in the NHL

Like a lot of Bruins fans right now I’m not the biggest fan of Tom Wilson right now. He continued to show that he is a dirty player and that his antics need to be called out.

In the first period, Brandon Carlo was battling for the puck against the boards and Wilson came from across the ice to ram Carlo’s head into the boards. It’s truly a disgusting hit that you need to understand just how bad it is.

You read that right, there was no penalty called on the play. It was just a truly awful decision from the officials.

In the 2nd period, the Bruins responded with a bang. Patrice Bergeron went up to Wilson and gave him a piece of his mind before the first puck drop, then Jarred Tinordi dropped the gloves with Wilson and ended up with the Caps hitman tasting his own blood.

The final sting in Wilson’s wound was Bergeron scoring a beautiful goal on a great all-around play by the first line while the NHL’s dirtiest player was still in the penalty box. Bergy went over and gave Wilson a stick tap for his efforts.

Carlo went straight to the hospital and seems like he will be out for an extended period of time. The response from the Bruins shows that they are not a team to mess with.
