Boston Celtics rumors: LaMarcus Aldridge won’t help the C’s
By Sam Minton
At one time acquiring LaMarcus Aldridge would seem like a no brainer, but that isn’t the case anymore. Now that Aldridge is on the market, the Celtics need to be patient and not rush a decision.
Aldridge and the Spurs have come to an agreement to move the big man. Aldridge should be playing for a new team rather soon.

For a 35-year-old, Aldridge is having a quality season. He is averaging nearly 14 points a game and five rebounds a game. He could definitley help Boston out in an NBA Finals run.
But is Aldridge worth that trade exception? That is where things get more complicated.
LaMarcus Aldridge won’t help the Celtics.
Now Aldridge has the ability to possibly help Boston out right now. That isn’t a guarantee but those stats aren’t terrible.
But Aldridge’s age makes a trade quite risky. It would be a win-now move to try and acquire Aldridge.
Also, Aldridge has a deal that is expiring at the end of the season. It seems highly unlikely that Boston and Aldridge would be able to come to an agreement.
But the main reason that Boston shouldn’t trade for Aldridge is because it would require using that TPE.
If you are going to use this, it makes sense to acquire a game-changing player who can play for many years on the team. That’s like players like Nikola Vucevic and Harrison Barnes stick out.
Aldridge is too old and wouldn’t make that much of an impact. Even if he was to come to Boston I wouldn’t bet on Boston winning a championship.
At this point, the Celtics need to be patient when it comes to that TPE. It might make more sense for Boston to wait till the offseason to make a move. Then they will be able to look at even more players to bring in.
So the Celtics shouldn’t go after Aldridge. The only reason that they should even consider acquiring him is if he somehow gets bought out. Then they wouldn’t have to use the TPE.
But Boston needs to consider who is worthy of using the TPE on. Sadly for Aldridge, he just doesn’t measure up.
