Boston Bruins: Why postponed games could help team
By Sam Minton
Things haven’t been great for the Boston Bruins as of late. The team has been inconsistent and struggling to stay healthy so maybe this unexpected break could help them.
Boston has had two games canceled due to players entering the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol. This will give the team a week off at the minimum from playing a game.

The first thing that fans should be worrying about is the health of the players. Hopefully, they are doing well and will be able to return to the ice relatively soon.
But after that, this break could end up helping the Bruins. There’s no denying that they could use the rest.
Why postponed games could help Boston Bruins.
Lately, the Bruins haven’t been playing the best hockey. This month the B’s boast a record of 4-3-2. After the team’s great start to the season, it’s been disappointing to see.
One of the main struggles as of late has been scoring. Just like in prior seasons, Boston has been relying too much on the top line. They need some help from some other players if they want to make a run for the Stanley Cup.
But the Bruins have also had to deal with injuries to some key players. Brandon Carlo, Tuukka Rask, and Kevan Miller have all been forced to miss some time. Also more recently Trent Frederic and Jarred Tinordi have been added to that list.
One benefit of this break is that it will allow Boston to get healthy. While someone like Carlo will likely still need some time before he returns, the Bruins could hopefully see someone like Rask and likely Frederic return to the ice.
Frederic has been playing great especially as of late. He has definitley etched out a permanent role for himself on Boston’s roster.
This season Frederic has four goals and an assist. More importantly, he has brought his physical play and his knack for agitating opposing players. He is a crucial part of Boston’s bottom six.
Also getting a player like Rask back would be a major boost. He is one of the best goaltenders in the NHL and his absence surely hasn’t gone unnoticed.
While Bruins fans were treated to Dan Vladar getting his first win, Jaroslav Halak has had to play a lot more games than he is used to.
Also if the Boston Bruins are able to get healthy, one would hope that Boston would be able to get some secondary scoring. Once DeBrusk is out of protocol maybe he will go on one of his patented hot streaks.
So while fans are disappointed that they won’t be able to watch their favorite team for a week, it’s clear that Boston needed the rest. Hopefully, whenever they do return to the ice, they will return to form and start stringing together some wins. If you look at the standings it’s clear that they need to.
