More from Chowder and Champions

Thursday was another great night for the Bruins as they defeated the New York Islanders. After seeing how much Boston struggled against the Islanders in previous games, it’s definitely pleasing to see them winning games.

If the B’s continue to play like this they will be a tough team to beat. Boston is starting to look like a team that is capable of bringing home the Stanley Cup.

But let’s get to the particulars of the Bruins win over New York. Here are the 3 takeaways that B’s fans need to know about.

3. Taylor Hall scores his first goal as a member of the Boston Bruins

The acquisition of Taylor Hall was a major one for the Bruins. It showed that Boston recognized that they needed another scorer and also gave David Krejci some much needed help on the wing.

Hall wasn’t having the best season of his career prior to coming to Boston. Then again it’s hard to blame him seeing that he was playing in Buffalo.

In 37 games for the Sabres, Hall was only able to register two goals and 17 assists. For a goal scorer like Hall, those numbers aren’t good enough.

Hall’s confidence wasn’t the best. It’s hard to believe in yourself when you aren’t scoring goals. Coming to Boston was a chance at a fresh start for Hall as well as an opportunity to compete for a Stanley Cup.

In just his second game with the Bruins, Hall was able to score his first goal with his new team. He used his speed to get all alone and blast a wrist shot into the net.

Now that Hall has scored, expect him to play much better. He won’t have to worry about being scoreless anymore.

If Hall can become the player that he was in the 2017-18 season, the Bruins will have made the best move of the NHL trade deadline. Fans in Boston will be hoping that Hall can continue to light the lamp as the B’s try to regain some ground in the East.
