The NFL is making some changes this offseason and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick doesn’t seem to be a fan.

Some players could be getting some new numbers as the NFL loosed its restrictions on jersey numbers. For instance, running backs and wide receivers can wear single-digit numbers.

Imagine if Reggie Bush got to wear No.5 when he entered the NFL? Maybe Patriots linebacker Josh Uche will return to his No.6 that he wore at Michigan.

One former Patriot has already come out against this idea. Tom Brady seems to hate this new rule change.

Brady said that the move could confuse lineman and lead to QB’s taking dangerous hits. It honestly was like an old man yelling at kids to get off his lawn. Brady was acting as the game of football would never be the same simply because players have more numbers to choose from.

But Brady isn’t the only one who is upset about the rule. Belichick apparently isn’t a fan of the rule either. The Patriots were even one of the few teams to vote against the rule change.

Belichick and Brady seem to be making a big deal out of something that doesn’t really matter at the end of the day. If anything it is a good thing for the league and its teams (including the Patriots).

Letting the players wear numbers does no harm. It lets them be creative and express themselves. They are no longer confined to a small selection of numbers.

Brady and Belichick seem to think that offensive linemen will forget how to block just because a player has a different number. It just doesn’t make any sense.

Also, this will surely make the NFL and its teams some extra money. If a major player chooses to wear a new jersey number, fans will have no choice but to buy another jersey.

So it makes no sense for Belichick and Brady to be so upset about a rule change that has no effect on the actual game. All this does is make players happy. It makes no sense for Belichick to be bent out of shape.

The NFL allowing players to wear the numbers that they want will do absolutely no harm. Belichick should focus on trying to make the Patriots a contender once again instead of wasting time and energy on jersey numbers.
