So far in 2021, the Boston Red Sox have exceeded expectations. Part of the reason why is the performance of Xander Bogaerts.

Bogaerts and the Red Sox have been amazing at the plate. They are driving in runs at quite the pace. Boston has already driven in over 110 runs and 26 home runs.

But one of the best players so far for Boston has been Bogaerts. He has been leading the team on and off the field.

Xander Bogaerts continues to power the Boston Red Sox.

So far this season, Bogaerts has a batting average north of .375 along with three home runs and 11 RBIs. He has been great at the plate and responsible for a decent chunk of Boston’s scoring.

Bogaerts signed a long-term deal with the Sox in 2020. He will be locked up in Boston until 2026 and he has a full no trade clause throughout the duration of that contract.

After the disaster that was the Mookie Betts situation that eventually led to Boston trading him, it is important that Bogaerts can’t be moved. It shows that Boston is committed to him and wants him to be a leader for the Red Sox now and in the future.

While Bogaerts is doing well at the plate, if the Red Sox want to truly contend this season, they will need him to be better in the field. Bogaerts needs to improve his accuracy and just simply be a reliable shortstop for the Red Sox.

But with how well Bogaerts is playing this season, Boston has the capability to have a great season. He should be able to reach 30 dingers and over 100 RBIs. That is a benchmark that Bogaerts needs to be aiming for each and every season.

As the Red Sox continue to progress on their journey back to the top of the AL East and the American League as a whole, Bogaerts will be a fixture in Boston’s lineup. He will continue to be a leader for the Red Sox and be a fan favorite for the foreseeable future.

As long as Bogaerts continues to do well at the plate, the Boston Red Sox should have a successful season in 2021.
