Fresh off of their bye week, the 3-0 New England Patriots are heading into their Week 5 match-up against the Dallas Cowboys on a roll. Through three games on the season, Tom Brady and the Patriots’ offense is scoring a league leading 39.7 points per game, while also leading the NFL with 446.3 total yards per game.

An elite offense backed up by a strong and improved defense has equaled huge success for the Patriots early in the season, and Vegas certainly does not expect much to change this week. According to VegasInsider.com, the line for the Patriots and Cowboys game opened with New England being 7.5 point favorites, and the consensus across the betting world already has the line up to eight points in favor of the Patriots.

Rarely do you see such a huge line in favor of the road, especially in a game between two teams who appear primed to compete this season. However, the injury bug is clearly holding the Cowboys back at the moment.

Star wide receiver Dez Bryant and starting quarterback Tony Romo will continue to miss time this week, as Brandon Weeden is trying to get the Cowboys’ offense back on track. Bryant and Romo get all of the headlines, but the Cowboys are struggling with injuries across the board.

Rookie defensive end Randy Gregory has missed the last three weeks with a high ankle sprain, running back Lance Dunbar has been ruled out for the season with a major knee injury and while he seems to be fine, star linebacker Sean Lee left the Cowboys’ Week 4 game against the New Orleans Saints early with a concussion.

Simply put, the Cowboys are banged up, and it is unlikely that they will be much of a problem for Bill Belichick and the Patriots coming off of a bye.

The line may be too big to feel confident enough to put a bet on the road team here, but the Patriots are major favorites in this game for a reason.
