The New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount is on pace to break Curtis Martin’s rushing touchdown record.

One of the surprises of the 2016 NFL season has been the performance of Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount.  He has gone from a player on the bubble of making the roster to a player on the brink of setting the rushing touchdown record.

So far this season, Blount has found the end zone 12 times this season.  That is just two shy of a record set by Curtis Martin, who rushed for 14 touchdowns in 1995 and 1996.  Although the majority of his touchdowns have come on runs shorter than 10 yards, he has exploded for a couple long yardage runs that have broken the opponents back.

Blount is not the fastest or shiftiest back in the NFL, but the power he has makes him hard to take down once he gets going.  That power was evident in Sunday night’s 31-24 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.  He refused to be brought down during an impressive 1-yard run that saw him battle Seahawks defenders down the line and eventually in the end zone.

In summary, LeGarrette Blount should set the record barring injury.  With the cold weather setting in, Blount should become a viable weapon for the Patriots.

Tom Brady:  Patriots quarterback Tom Brady says he will be fine for the Week 11 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.  Brady took a low hit from Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor in the third quarter of Sunday night’s 34-24 loss.

Speaking to Jim Gray of Westwood One’s pregame show for Monday Night Football, Brady said the injury was to his thigh and not his knee.  Although he is sore, he will be ready on Sunday.

"“I’m sore, but I will be ready to go next week,” Brady said via WEEI. “Get some good treatment like I always get from my good buddy Alex [Guerrero] and I’ll be good to go. It’s part of football. Everyone plays with bumps and bruises this time of year. I’m no different. I’ll get my treatment this week, get out to practice and be ready to go.”"
