New England Patriots wide receiver Michael Floyd has broken his silence about his DUI arrest last week.

In life we make mistakes and it is how we learn from those mistakes that shapes who we are.  For Michael Floyd, joining the New England Patriots is his chance to put himself in a better position both in life and on the football field.

Speaking for the first time since his DUI arrest last week, Floyd is grateful that the Patriots organization has given him a chance to grow as an individual and prove that he is the man former teammates and coaches know him to be.

"“I think in life everyone makes mistakes,” Floyd said in front of his locker Thursday afternoon.  “I think right now it is about learning about that mistake.  I couldn’t be in a better position right now with this team.  The guys that they have around here are keeping me focused and working hard.”"

Floyd was claimed by the New England Patriots last week after he was released by the Arizona Cardinals.  Since he was brought in, a video has surfaced of his arrest and further details have been released about his blood alcohol level.  With those details, the Patriots are being scrutinized by some experts around the NFL for giving Floyd a chance.

It’s certainly a risk, but if the Floyd can find a way to “move forward” and certainly learn from what has happened, it could become a high reward for the team and the player.

"“I understand what happened last week is last week,” Floyd added.  “I am excited about my opportunity to be here, just being a Patriots.  Great group of guys.  Great group of coaches.  Great organization.”"

As a suspension from the league and potential jail time awaits Michael Floyd, he is focused on helping the Patriots the rest of the season.  What comes next no one really knows, but Floyd is “excited” to have a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the public and deep down within himself.

So, is a championship attitude the formula a player like Floyd needs to turn his life around?

"“I am excited,” he said.  “I couldn’t be in a better place.  Being on a different team you see how they do things and how they go hard and how they win all the time.  I am grateful to be here on a winning team.”"
