Gerald Green will replace Amir Johnson in the starting lineup for the Boston Celtics tonight in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

While some would say that the hope of the future is overshadowing the present for the Boston Celtics, we need to remember that this team is in fact in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Boston will look to bounce back in Game 2 to tie up the series, and it seems like they will be doing so with Gerald Green as a starter.

Green played well in Game 1 off the bench, as he finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds and an assist over 14 minutes of playing time. Green and Amir Johnson have flip-flopped in the starting lineup the entire playoffs. Green was inserted in Game 3 of the first-round series against the Chicago Bulls and the team caught fire. His last start came in Game 3 against the Wizards. I’d expect him to play around 25 minutes once again, so Johnson will still get his time on the floor.

Green has been emphasizing to his younger teammates that they need to seize the day. You’re never guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.

"“We shouldn’t be happy to be here. We should want to take it to the next level. We should be excited we get to go against one of the greatest players of all time and maybe one of the greatest teams. We should be thankful about this opportunity; be excited and not just happy to be here. We earned our way to be here. We earned the right to be the top seed. We need to make it a competition instead of looking like we’re happy to be here.”"

Now in the starting 5, Green will have the chance to show his teammates exactly what he means.
