Boston Celtics commentary: C’s will get their swagger back in Game 5
After two absolutely terrible losses in DC, the Boston Celtics are looking to forward to the comforts of home.
The Boston Celtics went through their worst basketball in DC. They lacked energy, turned the ball over, missed shots and hung their heads.
Let’s be real, the Wizards are a damn good basketball team. John Wall is a monster, and those guys around him hit a whole new level when they’re in the Verizon Center. During the regular season, the Celtics lost in DC in the same fashion they just did in the playoffs.
Personally, I wasn’t expecting a sudden turnaround, because for some reason the C’s just can’t get it together in Washington.
But man, did they look slow and tired at times.

The home crowd is what pumps you up, allows you to push injuries aside and focus on basketball. When the Celtics let Washington get hot, they didn’t have their home court to rely on. It was as rough a stretch of Celtics basketball as we’ve ever seen.
But let’s not forget the 2008 Boston Celtics. Those champions, those warriors who took down mighty LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. That opening playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks went seven games.
Neither team won on the road in that series, and away from the ATL, the Hawks looked like a completely different team. It’s the same thing for the Wizards, at home they’re absolutely unstoppable as they’ve been all year. But away? It’s a different team, which plays into the Celtics favor.
That Garden crowd will be ready on Wednesday, and those Boston Celtics will have a new focus and yes, they’ll have energy. You play for home court advantage for this exact reason, because the fans can pick you up even when you’re not at your best. That renewed energy will follow Boston to DC, and who knows?
