Boston Bruins: It’s time for the B’s to take the foot off of the gas pedal
By Sam Minton
After losing their third straight game, the Boston Bruins need to be more concerned with getting everyone healthy, rather than gunning for first place.
The Boston Bruins have had an amazing season. With a boatload of young talent they have springboarded to the top of the Eastern Conference. They are currently two points behind the Tampa Bay Lightning, but the best thing for the Bruins is to rest up before the playoffs start.
Right now the Bruins are a banged up team. Charlie McAvoy is coming off an injury, so is Matt Grzelcyk, Torey Krug, Zdeno Chara and David Backes. These guys have gotten a few games under their belts, so now they should rest up before the real season starts.
The Bruins also have a bunch of players currently missing time due to injuries. We obviously know that Brandon Carlo won’t be returning after his awful ankle injury. Sean Kuraly has missed 5 games with an upper-body injury. Rick Nash is skating, but no one knows if he will be playing before the regular season ends. Riley Nash is still nursing a nasty ear injury after taking a Torey Krug shot to the side off the head. Like Rick, we still don’t know if he will play before the playoffs begin, and finally, Tommy Wingels has been held out of the last two games with a hand injury.

No need to worry
Even though the Bruins still have a chance at home ice, they don’t need it. This team has had a phenomenal season and if they need to win a game 7 on the road I have confidence that they will be able to do it. Also, they will have home ice, just not against Tampa Bay.
Right now the Bruins would be playing the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the playoffs. The Bruins have struggled against the Maple Leafs this season. They only won 1 out of their 4 regular season matchups. Even though the Bruins struggled, I still believe they will get by the Maple Leafs. The series will probably go 6 games with the Bruins coming out on top.
Next: The Bruins continue to crumble
Now don’t take this as a concessions speech. The Bruins can still win the Eastern Conference, it will just be really tough. No matter what the Bruins are going to make a run for the Stanley Cup, and I can not wait.
