Boston Celtics: Kyrie Irving finally talks about future in Boston

Kyrie Irving has been rather noncommittal in regards to his future with the Boston Celtics, but now it appears Irving may want to stay in Boston after all.

Kyrie Irving is one of the most interesting guys in the NBA. This season Boston Celtics fans have gotten a front row seat to the Kyrie experience. It sure has been a wild ride this offseason.

Irving wouldn’t commit to staying with the Celtics, so rumors of him leaving after next season grew like wildfire. Then it was believed that Irving may want to head to NY and play for the Knicks.

It appears that Irving is finally able to tell Celtics fans what they want to hear (sort of). According to the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett and his sources, Irving wants to stay in Boston.

"(Irving is) “quite pleased with his Celtic surroundings and has been talking about the future here beyond 2018-19.”"

Well, finally some good news. The Celtics re-sign Marcus Smart and now Kyrie is interested in staying in Boston.

There is no doubt that Irving makes the Celtics a better team. In his first season with the C’s, Irving averaged 24.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.

Irving was much better on defense, and also seemed to play a more team-oriented game. “Killer Kyrie” is still there though.

At some points, it seems like Irving is in NBA Jam. He keeps hitting shots and makes insane plays. Every make is another dagger into the opposing team.

If the Celtics can bring Kyrie back there will be some actual competition for the Larry O’Brien trophy. With all the great teams in the West including the Golden State Warriors, the East seems to have no chance to compete. If Irving comes back the Celtics will have multiple shots at winning a championship.

Kyrie Irving will have the NBA world in the palm of his hands at the end of next season. Hopefully, he realizes that the Boston Celtics give him the best opportunity to win a title, and get out of LeBron James shadow.
