Boston Bruins player outlook 2018: David Krejci looking to keep up
By Sam Minton
After a solid season last year, Boston Bruins center David Krejci is looking to keep up with the rest of the NHL.
The game of hockey is changing at a rapid pace. Fighting and physicality seem to be disappearing while speed and skill are the two most important factors of today’s game. For Boston Bruins center David Krejci, he is just looking to keep up.
Krejci is coming off a quality season for the Bruins. He had 17 goals and 27 assists last season. Krejci was the glue that held the Bruins second line together. With rookie Jake Debrusk on the wing, a lot of pressure was put on Krejci. DeBrusk had an amazing season and I think playing alongside Krejci helped the rookie adjust to the NHL.
Now Krejci only played in 64 games last season. Like lots of Bruins last season, Krejci was banged up. This season I think we need the center to stay healthy.

It will be interesting to see what head coach Bruce Cassidy does with the 2nd line. You have to expect that Jake DeBrusk will be on the left wing, but who will be on Krejci’s other side? Will Ryan Donato play out of position and be in the top 6? Will Anders Bjork retain his top spot or could we even see David Pastrnak slide down to help out Krejci?
Prediction time:
I’m not expecting an amazing season from Krejci. He is 32 and exiting the prime of his career. Krejci has always been on the second line, I don’t expect him to magically become even better.
Realistically I think Bruins fans should expect 15 goals and 30 assists from Krejci. I expect Jake DeBrusk to have another amazing season and Krejci should set him up plenty of times.
Now even though he is 32 it seems like old dog Krejci is learning some new tricks. He is coming into camp lighter and is looking to keep up with the increased speed of the game.
Krejci may not be scoring like he used to but he should once again be a solid center for the Boston Bruins this season.
