The New England Patriots need to be saved after a terrible start to the season. If they want to have any chance of making it to the Super Bowl, these 3 players will have to step in and contribute immediately.

Awful. That’s the only way to describe the New England Patriots play in Week 3.

The score may have only been 26-10, but the Detroit Lions dominated the Patriots in all aspects of the game. Even Bill Belichick struggled. Who would’ve thought that Belichick would be getting outcoached by Matt Patricia in 2018?

It’s clear. The New England Patriots need to get production and fast. If the Patriots lose in Week 4 there whole season could be in jeopardy. Starting 1-4 and being 3 games behind the Miami Dolphins for 1st place in the AFC East is not ideal.

So here are 3 players that could save the Patriots this season.

Julian Edelman

We all know how great Julian Edelman is. He is an amazing slot receiver. Edelman weaves through the center of the field and knows how to make defenders miss.

Edelman is also Tom Brady’s favorite target. Having Edelman back on the field will definitely make life easier for Brady. No more double teaming Rob Gronkowski and I think the other receivers will have better opportunities to get open.

The question is will Edelman be the same player? He is coming off a brutal ACL injury. It’s hard to come back the same player. When Edelman is first out there it will be interesting to see if he still wants to go over the middle and can still make the same cuts.

The Patriots sure hope so. In the first 3 weeks of the season, we have seen Brady have no one to throw the ball to. I for one underestimated the impact that Edelman had on the team.

When Julian Edelman comes back I expect the New England Patriots offense to come back to life.
