New England Patriots: Josh Gordon trade already paying dividends
By Sam Minton
When the New England Patriots traded for Josh Gordon there were some concerns that the Pats were taking a big risk. Well, the trade is already paying off for New England.
The New England Patriots are looking like they are about to hit their stride. After a dominant effort against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, the Patriots secured another victory on Thursday night against the Indianapolis Colts. One of the highlights of the game came late in the 4th quarter from Josh Gordon.
The Patriots were driving halfway through the 4th quarter after giving up a touchdown to the Colts. Gordon would secure both of his catches on this drive and eventually would catch his first touchdown as a member of the New England Patriots.
The play was a work of art.

It was first down and the New England Patriots were on their opponents 34-yard line. Brady dropped back and had all the time in the world to throw the ball. He chucked the ball into the end zone and Josh Gordon leaped over two defenders to make a catch.
Gillette Stadium erupted and Tom Brady had thrown his 500th passing touchdown. This catch gives you hope that Gordon will make a difference in New England. Gordon also was the 71st different player to catch a TD pass from Brady.
Watching the play you are reminded of one receiver that revived his career in New England, Randy Moss. When you see Gordon leap up and bring the ball down you are reminded of Moss’s vertical ability.
In no way am I saying that the two players are equal, but it looks like Tom Brady found his new favorite deep target.
So no matter what happens next, the Josh Gordon trade paid off. The Patriots gave up nothing for him, and Gordon is playing pretty well so far. Brady seems to trust him and they look to be building what could become a deadly relationship.
Once again the New England Patriots have outsmarted the rest of the NFL.
