New England Patriots: Sony Michel definitely not a bust
By Sam Minton
New England Patriots running back Sony Michel is proving all of the haters wrong. The 1st round pick has been dominant as of late.
That Sony Michel guy sucks don’t he? After the New England Patriots first three games people were clamoring for Michel to lose his job. Thankfully that didn’t happen.
These last two weeks Sony Michel has looked like a running back who could cause problems for the rest of the NFL.
In Week 5 Michel continued to run the ball with authority. He had 18 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown. Once again Michel’s speed and power stood out.

At times it seems like Michel is shot out of a cannon. He just bursts out of the backfield. Michel also has an innate ability to make defenders miss. Whether it is juking players out of their shoes or lowering his shoulder, Michel always finds a way to get the extra yard.
Currently, Michel is 5th in the NFL in rushing yards. If he continues to rack up yards on the ground he may find his way into the NFL Rookie of the Year conversation.
It’s funny to think that just a few weeks ago some people were saying that Michel was a bust and that the Patriots should just give up on him. Now Michel is a major part of the Patriots offense.
The only thing that Michel needs to improve on is his goal line ability. It seems that once the Patriots get close the goalline, Michel is incapable of getting into the end zone. If Michel can fix this problem he will be close to a perfect back.
Michel is the perfect combination of speed and power and looks to be one of the Patriots best backs since Corey Dillon. The sky seems to be the limit for the rookie.
A future without Tom Brady isn’t as bleak with such a talented running back in Sony Michel leading the backfield.
