Boston Celtics: Recent struggles should motivate team
By Sam Minton
The Boston Celtics poor performance in the preseason could be just what the doctor ordered.
The Boston Celtics have been hearing all offseason how they will dominate the Eastern Conference and have a chance to win an NBA championship. If they play like they did in the preseason that definitely won’t be happening.
The Celtics struggled to get anything going in the preseason. The shot the ball poorly and just didn’t look like themselves.
Now it is just the preseason so take everything with a grain of salt but even though the C’s struggled it may end up being a good thing.

For almost half a year the C’s have been labeled as the clear favorite in the East. Who could compete with a lineup that is composed of Kyrie Irving, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward, and Al Horford?
Well, that’s the interesting thing about sports. Sometimes the better team doesn’t win. On some occasions the team with the bigger heart and the greater will to win is victorious.
I think this preseason can be a learning experience for the Celtics. They now know that this season won’t be a cakewalk.
I have to admit, as soon as LeBron James left for LA I thought the C’s could challenge Golden State’s record for most wins in a season. Maybe I was drinking too much of the green Kool-Aid.
The Celtics will without a doubt be a great team, but fans need to temper expectations.
Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, and Daniel Theis are all coming off rather serious injuries. It will take them time to get readjusted to the NBA game. Especially Hayward since he missed all of last season.
The Celtics also have to get used to having so many talented players. It will be interesting to see how Brad Stevens manages everyone and ensures that all players are getting their shots.
Guys like Terry Rozier, Marcus Morris, and Aron Baynes are starting caliber players. For this year’s Celtics squad they will have a smaller role.
So let’s hope that the Boston Celtics got all of their poor play out in the preseason and will dominate once the regular season comes around.
