Following two 38-point performances, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady feels a lot better about the team’s offense and knows they can be even better.

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming!  The Kansas City Chiefs are coming!  While the New England Patriots defense is preparing for the challenge of slowing down Pat Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense, Tom Brady and his weapons are out to show they are just as dangerous.

With Julian Edelman back in the mix, the Patriots’ offense was back to the offense we have all been accustomed to.

Although more proficient than previous weeks when Brady seemed to have no one to throw to, the 41-year-old quarterback is more confident in his weapons knowing just how proficient and dangerous they can be with a health Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Josh Gordon and both Sony Michel and James White playing key roles in the offense.

Who are opposing defenses going to stop when all are clicking on high cylinders?  The numbers aren’t as flashy as the Chiefs weapons, but as the season goes on, the Patriots offense has the ability to be very explosive.  They showed that last Thursday night in the 38-24 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.  In that game, Brady said his offense was capable of scoring well over 50 points if they didn’t stop themselves.

"“Those turnovers, whether it is an interception, fumbled snap, I think that’s been something that we have to correct,” Brady said in his weekly appearance on Kirk & Callahan Monday morning. “If you look back at the first five games we’re giving away too many scoring opportunities. That is limiting our points. I thought the other night we should have put 52 [points] out there, at least. Maybe more. When we play a team like Kansas City, we have to take advantage of every scoring opportunity because we know they are.”"

It’s funny.  With how anemic the New England Patriots offense looked in Week 2 and Week 3, they looked just as potent in the games against Miami and Indianapolis.  Much of that was due to execution, but a lot of it had to do with who was out there on the field besides Rob Gronkowski.

With Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon on the field, suddenly players like Phillip Dorsett, Chris Hogan, Cordarrelle Patterson and eventually Jacob Hollister have opportunities to make plays.  While Tom Brady later admitted in the radio show interview that the team is still “figuring out” what they are good at, it has become apparent the last two weeks that they can be good at multiple things.

The 5-0 Kansas City Chiefs will get to witness that Sunday night in Foxborough.

Kenjon Barner back again

In what has become a weekly roster transaction, running back Kenjon Barner was signed back to the 53-man roster on Oct. 8.

This comes after the team released him on Oct. 4.  While it would appear that the team needs a bigger running back to compliment Sony Michel and James White, Barner’s addition is more about depth at the position.  It also has a lot to do with how hard he works as a veteran player.

"“He’s handled it well, a very professional guy,” Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said of Barner.  “He prepares well.  He’s smart.  He’s learned pretty quickly.”"

It would be no surprise if Kenjon Barner made a play or two in a game for the New England Patriots.
