Boston Bruins fans will see yet another new face when the puck drops on Saturday night.

It looks like the Boston Bruins will be seeing plenty of Jaroslav Halak this weekend. Bruce Cassidy announced that the goaltender would most likely be playing the entire weekend.

This comes on the heel of the team announcing that Tuukka Rask is taking a leave of absence. So we will also be seeing a goalie from Providence make his way to Boston.

Now hopefully all is well with Rask. The only information that we really got is that it isn’t injury related. So hopefully Rask won’t be gone for long.

More from Chowder and Champions

This will be a nice little experiment for Halak. He is coming off his worst performance of the season. On Thursday night he was giving up soft goals and finally looked like a backup goaltender.

Halak now has the opportunity to play his way out of his struggles. I’m pretty sure if the Bruins had Rask he would be playing on Saturday night.

JFK will get to play

The Bruins also announced that Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson will be starting on the 3rd line in Saturday’s game. This move seems out of the blue.

JFK isn’t exactly lighting up the AHL. In 9 games he has a goal and 3 assist with a rating of -2. It seems like Bruce Cassidy wants to try and add a spark to the Bruins bottom six.

The Bruins have been only getting scoring from their top lines with the Bruins first line already having 55 points.  Maybe Forsbacka-Karlsson could be the guy that electrifies the team.

Cassidy said that Danton Heinen will be on the left wing and doesn’t know who will play on the right. If I was Cassidy I would play Anders Bjork. He has been one of the better players of the Bruins bottom lines. I think that Bjork is going to have a scoring breakthrough sooner rather than later.

Next. 3 trade targets to rid Bruins scoring woes. dark

Puck drop is at 7:00 PM. Hopefully, the Bruins will have the TD Garden fans riled up and secure the victory.
