New England Patriots: Rob Gronkowski has to make a change
By Sam Minton
Rob Gronkowski has struggled so far this season. Clearly, the New England Patriots tight end needs to make some mid-season adjustments.
This season Rob Gronkowski has proved that he is a mere mortal. The New England Patriots tight end isn’t used to struggling to get into the end zone.
Usually, we will have seen plenty of Gronk spikes by this point in the season. So far in 2018, we have only seen one, and that was all the way back in Week 1. Gronkowski is known for getting in the end zone so what could’ve happened.
Well, Gronkowski is showing that his injuries have taken a toll. Gronk hasn’t been able to gain separation and has struggled to make a difference on offense. Tom Brady has been forced to look at other options.

Gronkowski’s last appearance was his worst game. In Week 8 he only had 3 catches for 43 yards.
I think the main thing that Gronk has to do is get as healthy as possible. He started the season off well so I expect him to come off the bye and have a good game.
Also, I believe the Patriots should try and use Gronkowski in more short distance scenarios. We have seen the Patriots try and throw the ball deep to the tight end and have been unsuccessful. It seems like you can’t rely on Gronkowski for the deep ball.
The thing you can’t take away from Gronk is his size. The Patriots should run some slants and other short routes so Gronkowski can do the work with the ball in his hands. It is really hard to tackle Gronk. As long as you get him the ball he will be able to gain some serious yards.
New England also has to get Gronkowski involved in the red zone. If the Patriots can get Gronk some touchdowns it will lift his morale and give him a boost.
When you aren’t scoring touchdowns it can be pretty disappointing. Especially when you are a great player like Rob Gronkowski.
So I hope to see a refreshed and reenergized Rob Gronkowski in Week 12. If not the Patriots need to think about life after the tight end.
