Rob Gronkowski’s career is nearing its end so New England Patriots fans should be focused on appreciating the tight ends greatness.

There has been some complaining about New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski this season. Gronk hasn’t been the same tight end that we know and love, but with rumors of Gronkowski’s retirement becoming more of a reality each day, it’s time that we stop whining.

Gronkowski changed the tight end position forever. His dominance has never been seen before.

Gronk hasn’t been playing for an eternity either. This is just his 9th season in the NFL and he has already made such a major impact.

More from Chowder and Champions

Gronkowski has 503 catches, 7,627 yards, and 77 touchdowns. Just those numbers alone make Gronk a hall of famer, but there’s more.

What makes Gronk’s career so special is how physical he is. Gronkowski is such a dominant pass catcher but is still able to block well. Most tight ends can only do one or the other (looking at you Travis Kelce).

Gronkowski also had to deal with some obstacles. When watching Gronk go out for a pass he is usually getting mauled up the field. It seems that referees are hesitant to call pass interference calls when Gronk is going up for the ball because he is so large.

This didn’t stop Gronkowski. He has still made some highlight reel catches and was the Patriots go-to target for a while.

This season Gronkowski has struggled with injuries. This is commonplace in Gronk’s career. It’s the reason he dropped in the draft. The logical solution to his problems is ending his career.

If Gronkowski never played another snap he would be the greatest tight end to ever play football in my opinion. Gronkowski flipped the game on its head. The tight end position will never be the same.

Next. Tom Brady haters are rejoicing, but we’ll see. dark

So let’s appreciate the short time we have left with Rob Gronkowski on the Patriots. I know for a fact that I will miss his funny press conferences and his awesome touchdown celebrations when he is gone.
