Robert Williams was drafted with the 27th overall pick by the Boston Celtics this past summer, and the big man is finally starting to show what he can do.

Robert Williams III, ‘Lob Williams’,Timelord’. Whatever you call him (Timelord is my preference), the kid from Texas A&M has made his presence felt for the Boston Celtics.

Williams is a center the C’s haven’t really had in years. A long, athletic kid who rips down rebounds and dunks over everyone, he has a wingspan of 7’6″ and stands at 6’10”.

Williams doesn’t even have to put that much effort into blocking shots, his reach is so long that he can graze the ball and alter shots without even trying. On December 14th, Williams had five blocks against the Atlanta Hawks. You read that right, FIVE blocks.

Williams has real potential.

Robert Williams is in a situation where he doesn’t have any pressure on him and can make the necessary mistakes in order to learn and grow.

With Al Horford as a mentor, I have no doubts that Williams can climb to new levels in his game. He’s been working on a jump shot and I wouldn’t be surprised if by the beginning of next season we saw him using that as a regular arsenal in his game.

I don’t know a Boston athlete that people have gotten this excited for so quickly. Anytime Williams enters the game the crowd goes nuts, and when he catches a lob or blocks a shot? You’d think the guy’s been in a Celtics uniform for years.

The Boston Celtics drafted a lottery-level talent at the 27th slot in the draft because there were questions about his motor and about how good he really could be. Williams wasn’t motivated on a Texas A&M team that wasn’t using him correctly.

Put him with an organization striving for a title and a coach who knows where to put him, and all of a sudden he’s looking like an absolute steal.

Next. Boston Celtics suddenly have a shooter in Marcus Smart. dark

Robert Williams has been a fun addition to this Celtics season, he’s going to be really important for this team this season and heck maybe he’ll let Al Horford get more rest as the season goes on. Whatever the case, it’s safe to say everyone is excited for the Timelord.
