New England Patriots: Sony Michel was worth 1st round pick
By Sam Minton
With his performance in the AFC Divisional round,Sony Michel proved that he was worth the New England Patriots1st round draft pick.
You may not have realized it but Sony Michel has had a pretty stellar rookie year for the New England Patriots.
When Michel was first picked by the Patriots in the 1st round it was shocking in a way. It seemed like New England was destined to pick a quarterback to take over for Tom Brady once he retires, but the Patriots were contempt with taken Danny Etling later in the draft.
Michel had a rocky start to his NFL career he dealt with a knee injury to start the season and didn’t play until Week 2. When he made it on to the field he struggled at first, but once he got his feet under him, he looked great.

In just 13 games Michel racked up 931 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Michel is such a powerful, but graceful runner. He has the ability to run a guy over on one play and juke a defender out of their shoes on the next.
When the brights were shining the brightest so was Michel. In the rookie’s first playoff game he was an absolute stud.
Michel had 24 carries for 129 yards and 3 touchdowns. The offensive line did a great job, but Sony made some amazing runs and showed some great field vision.
It appears that the New England Patriots have finally found the every down back they were looking for. Michel’s potential may be able to propel him to one of the top running backs in the NFL when he enters the prime of his career.
Now imagine how powerful the combination of James White and Michel will be. Both of these guys are serviceable catching the ball out of the backfield as well as taking it to opposing teams on the ground.
For the first time in a long time, I am confident in the future of the New England Patriots backfield.
