Ryan Donato looked like he was going to be a Boston Bruins star early in his career, but his relationship with the team has quickly turned sour since he was traded.

Sometimes we forget that the NHL is a business. A player can be traded in an instant. This isn’t a rare occurrence trades happen every season. So I have no idea why Ryan Donato is deciding to trash the Boston Bruins.

Donato was sent to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Charlie Coyle who should play a major role in the Bruins playoff push. He has definitely had a much better season than Donato and is a more complete player.

We all know that Ryan Donato is a great goal scorer, but he needed to improve in other parts of his game. That’s why he was sent down. Donato needed to become a more complete player.

Donato has done well since joining the Wild. In his first game, Donato had two assists. They did come on a power play and an empty net goal, but still that’s how you want to start things off with your new team.

After the game, it seemed like Donato was letting the media know that he didn’t appreciate how he was being coached in Boston.

"“It’s been awhile since the coaches have had a lot of confidence in me to play me in all situations.”"

This is some extremely unfair criticism. First off Donato played horrible this season. In 34 games with the Bruins this season he only had 6 goals and 3 assists. Donato deserved to be sent down as he needed to work on his game.

Also, Bruce Cassidy has shown extreme confidence in young players. Just look at Boston’s roster. They have 7 players that are 23 years old or younger.

The fact is that Donato wasn’t producing. Bruce Cassidy was right to take him off the power play and send him down to the minors.

Boston wishes Ryan Donato the best of luck with his new team but he needs to understand that this is the life of an NHL player.
