Boston Bruins: Charlie Coyle trade an immediate success
By Sam Minton
When the Boston Bruins traded for Charlie Coyle it seemed like nothing, but Coyle has been amazing for the B’s in the playoffs.
Imagine growing up playing street hockey in Massachusetts and getting to play in the NHL? That’s awesome. What would be even more awesome is playing for your hometown Boston Bruins.
Now imagine scoring a game-winning goal for the Bruins in the playoffs? Seems like something out of a movie right? Well that is exactly what Charlie Coyle did in the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Ever since coming to the Boston Bruins, Coyle has made a difference. He has added some much-needed depth to the roster.
Coyle wasn’t particularly amazing at the end of the regular season. He scored 2 goals and 4 assists in 21 games.
But the playoffs have been a different story. Coyle has been amazing and arguably one of the best players on the entire roster. In just 8 games he has 5 goals and an assist.
Coyle’s most recent game was a beauty. He may have had a costly turnover that gave the Columbus Blue Jackets life, but he scored 2 goals including the game winner.
The Bruins were right to make this trade. I don’t know if Ryan Donato could have a scoring outburst like this. Don Sweeney definitely deserves some credit for this move.
Without Coyle the Bruins may even be out of the playoffs. The Bruins first line has struggled to get on the board. Guys like David Pastrnak haven’t scored in a while, but thanks to the quality play of the 3rd and 4th line the Bruins are still alive.
Coyle may have found a home in Boston and may finally get to lift a Stanley Cup if he continues to perform at this level.
Charlie Coyle is definitely making all the kids who grew up playing hockey in Massachusetts proud.
