Boston Celtics: Never doubt the importance of Al Horford
By Sam Minton
The Boston Celtics dominated the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 and Al Horford deserves all the credit in the world.
The Boston Celtics are playing some of the best basketball in the entire NBA right now. The switch has been flipped and fans around the NBA are realizing how important Al Horford is.
When watching Horford play you sometimes can get bored. He is such a fundamentally sound player that it looks easy out there for him.

Horford also isn’t your traditional center. He is only 6’10” which is kind of small, especially in today’s NBA. Also Horford has a quality jump shot and can make the occasional 3 pointer. He is also a great facilitator.
So in the regular season you can think that Horford is someone that you can afford to lose. There are probably better centers out there, but Horford is a special player.
Game 1 was the Al Horford show. He scored 20 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks. It was his best game of the season.
The most impressive part is that he stifled Giannis Antetokounmpo. The “Greek freak” only had 22 points and was 7-21 from the field. Horford rejected him multiple times in the paint.
If the Celtics can continue to make life difficult for Antetokounmpo they have a great chance of winning this series. Even though the Bucks are a quality team all around, Giannis is still the straw that stirs the drink.
So if Al Horford can continue to play like he did in Game 1 the Celtics will be golden. Jayson Tatum struggled, but because of Horford and Kyrie Irving the Celtics were still able to defeat the Bucks.
Horford is a great player and Celtics fans should be lucky to have him. All this season it seemed like we were focused with bringing in Anthony Davis. It’s almost like Al Horford was completely written off, but he is still one of the best players on the Celtics roster.
