New England Patriots: Julian Edelman will always be a Patriot
By Sam Minton
The New England Patriots aren’t known for spending a lot of money to keep their own players. Julian Edelman getting a 2-year extension shows just how much the team values him.
The New England Patriots are one of the cheapest and most critical organizations in all of professional sports. So when they pay one of their own players it shows just how much the team values him.
New England has a lot of faces of the organization. There is obviously Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and Robert Kraft, but not too far behind is Julian Edelman.

Ever since he was drafted, Edelman adopted the region as his own and became the heart and soul of the Patriots as well as one of the most important players in Boston sports.
Now it looks like Julian Edelman will retire a Patriot. The New England Patriots gave him a 2-year extension that includes a decent sized raise.
After being the MVP of Super Bowl 53 it’s hard to disagree with the move. Edelman was extremely reliable and was a major reason the team was able to win another Lombardi Trophy.
Whenever Tom Brady needs a key first down the ball is likely going to Edelman. He is the most reliable receiver the Patriots have.
Even as Edelman has gotten older he has still put up some impressive numbers. In only 12 games last season he racked up 74 catches for 850 yards and 6 touchdowns.
The New England Patriots made the right move. Edelman is well deserving of the raise and should spend the entirety of his career in New England.
At this point we know that Edelman will get his red jacket and be in the Patriots Hall of Fame but the gold jacket is the real question. With his performance in the playoffs it would just be wrong to keep him out of the hall of fame.
Julian Edelman embodies what it means to be a member of the New England Patriots. Hopefully he will add a few more rings to his collection before he retires.
