Boston Celtics rumors: Why Chris Paul isn’t worth the trouble
By Sam Minton
Chris Paul is available but the Boston Celtics would be idiotic to trade for the aging Houston Rockets point guard.
This NBA offseason sure is going to be an interesting one. With it looking more and more likely that Kyrie Irving won’t be returning to the Boston Celtics, the rumor mill is churning with possible replacements.
One of the rumored names is Chris Paul. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Houston Rockets are looking to make moves and no one is off the table.

When he retires, Paul will go down as one of the best point guards to play the game. When he was in New Orleans he was a delight to watch.
But that was ages ago. Paul won’t be helping the Boston Celtics anytime soon.
Last season was an extremely mediocre season for Paul and the Rockets. CP3 averaged 15.6 points, 8.2 assists, and 4.6 rebounds a game.
This isn’t what the Celtics need. They need a young player that will help them for years to come. Not some old man who is about to retire.
Now let’s pretend that we live in a world where Kyrie Irving doesn’t come back to the Boston Celtics. A guy like D’Angelo Russell would be a much better replacement.
I think that Paul would demand the ball too much and his numbers will continue to drop. He is 34-years-old which doesn’t lend itself to great numbers at point guard.
The Celtics would also have to give up one of there quality young players to acquire Paul. Giving up a guy like Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, or Jayson Tatum for an ancient point guard would make me question Danny Ainge’s ability to run a team.
So hopefully the Boston Celtics stay far away from Chris Paul because that will only make things worse for the team.
