Boston Celtics rumors: Kyrie Irving abandoning team
By Sam Minton
It looks like Kyrie Irving will not be keeping his promise of returning to the Boston Celtics.
Some Boston Celtics fans may be happy to hear that Kyrie Irving is breaking the promise that he made before the start of the season. It appears that the point guard will not be returning to the C’s.
According to NBA reporter Ric Bucher, Kyrie has his sight set on two teams.

"“The latest that I’ve heard is that it’s between Brooklyn and the Lakers,” Bucher said… Now, everything that I’ve heard, I’d still expect that Kyrie is going to Brooklyn — that’s the odds-on favorite. … And if we’re going to continue our real estate (game), he just bought a place in South Orange (New Jersey).”"
Well, the Kyrie Irving trade was definitely a failure. The Celtics will probably be better without Irving. This is one of the first trades in a while that has backfired on Danny Ainge.
Irving’s time in Boston will be looked at with extreme scrutiny. It looked like he was going to be the face of the franchise for years to come. He is now just giving up on the team.
This was Irving’s chance to prove that he could win on his own. He finally got out of the shadow of LeBron James.
And what did Irving prove?
Kyrie proved that he can’t win on his own. Wherever he goes he will need someone else to be the No.1 guy if he wants to win a championship.
The worst-case scenario for Boston Celtics fans would be if Irving decided to go to the Lakers. All of Boston would hate him.
First off he would be going to the Celtics fiercest rival. No matter what the Lakers and Celtics will hate one another. This would instantly heat up the rivalry to an all-time high.
Then Irving would also be going back to his best buddy LeBron. He will return to him beaten and prove that James was the reason that Cleveland was able to win.
So goodbye Kyrie Irving. I wish I could say that it was fun having you in Boston, but it couldn’t have gone any worse.
