New England Patriots: Isaiah Wynn has large shoes to fill
By Sam Minton
After Isaiah Wynn’s rookie season came crashing down, the left tackle will get a chance in 2019 to prove that he was worth being selected by the New England Patriots in the 1st round of the NFL draft.
One of the New England Patriots most interesting moves in the 2018 NFL Draft was selecting Isaiah Wynn in the 1st round. Now in 2019 we may finally get to see him in the regular season.
2018 seemed like the year that the Patriots would finally get Tom Brady’s replacement by selecting Lamar Jackson, or one of the other top quarterbacks of the draft class. Bill Belichick fooled us again by drafting an offensive lineman and a running back.

Obviously, there was a lot of hype surrounding Wynn. He is a giant and was supposed to be the guy who protects Tom Brady’s blindside.
Last season the Patriots were glad that they acquired Trent Brown. When Wynn got injured, Brown was able to be the starting left tackle that New England needed.
In the offseason Brown headed for greener pastures and got paid by the Oakland Raiders. This means that Wynn will have to take his place. The spotlight will definitely be on the young guy.
The Patriots lost a major offensive weapon in Rob Gronkowski. I expect that Tom Brady will need more time to get rid of the ball this year. The offensive line will have to be dominant this season.
I also expect the Patriots to have a much more balanced offense. With Sony Michel’s success last season, New England won’t be airing it out as much as they used to. This is just another reason that the Patriots o-line needs to be great.
So Isaiah Wynn definitely has some big shoes to fill, but I’m confident that the left tackle will be a pillar for the New England Patriots offense.
